Pierre Mignard (1612-1695) Entourage Portait Of Louis XIV in armor Oval miniature on ivory Gilded and chiseled bronze frame Dimension: 3.8 x 3 cm at sight Dimension with frame: 10.5 cm Erroneous indication on the back "Jean Petitot" for the author of the subject and "Turenne" for the character. No possible doubt it is Louis XIV, the engraving kept at the Louvre Museum under the number Inv 16146 LR / Recto (photo 3 proantic) takes our model. This is an engraving by Pieter Louis Van Schuppen after Mignard. What is interesting is that our miniature is made in the opposite direction of the engraving, therefore according to the original painting which would be lost (location unknown). It is also good to specify that Mignard in addition to being an excellent portraitist he was a very good miniaturist.
