Beautiful pair of Parisian cane-bottomed armchairs in molded, sculpted and waxed beech wood, Regency period circa 1715-1720. Their flat square backrests are topped with a double shoulder; the seats are just as wide as they are comfortable, their turbulent armrests with gallantly recessed consoles set back in the straight side crosspieces are devoid of headlines. The set rests on a base consisting of four arched legs punctuated with interior windings raised with acanthus, joined by a crotch brace. An innovative natural decorative repertoire, made up of fancy shells, wavy scalloping of grass misses the evolution of the decorative arts of this beginning of the 18th century, but all the time a perfect symmetry of the decor still remains rigorous. It is worth noting the great care given to the linking elements of irreproachable quality. Balance, nervousness and elegance are the most appropriate terms for this very beautiful pair of beautifully crafted cane-bottomed seats.
