Pokal Or German Covered Cup In Sterling Silver, XIXth Century
Superb and rare pokal or covered cup in solid silver of German origin and from the 19th century. It rests on a finely chiseled shower foot decorated with openwork dolphin heads. The central barrel is decorated with a lion's head and a decoration of daisies as well as scrolls. The receptacle is adorned with a decoration of scales and gadroons. the highly ornate lid is surmounted by a volute decoration and a character forming the grip. Superb work of high quality, highly crafted and finely chiseled throughout, bears German hallmarks of XIXth century solid silver and of the city of Rheinberg. total weight 550 grams
