Cast from the end of the 19th century raised on a square base in Violet de Brignoles marble with the A. Falguière incision on one shoulder and a foundry seal from Thiébaut Frères Fondeurs Paris. This magnificent bust-portrait of Diana the Huntress was sculpted by Alexandre Joseph Falguière (French, 1831-1900). First exhibited in Paris in 1882, this classic sculpture depicts a dignified and confident Diana, gazing imperiously over one shoulder, with a crescent moon gleaming over her hair, symbolizing the Roman goddess of the moon and the hunt. This sculpture has been edited in different sizes. Here is the largest version, with a height of 59 cm.
