Lovely portrait of a Maltese dog was executed in 1863 by good listed Austrian portrait, animale and genre painter Wilhelm Richter ( 1824 - Vienna - 1892 ), who lived and worked in Vienna in the 19th century. He was a pupil of Thomas Ender and Leopold Kupelwieser at the Vienna Academy. His works are displayed in various museums and private collections. in the 1840-1850-s he travelled to Italy . Since 1870 he worked in Gödöllö ( castle of austrian impress Elisabeth) and painted different race horses and their owners.
