<<<<Léopold Oudry founded his electrochemical company in 1854at 10, rue Cuissard in Paris.Oudry is known for his vases, statues and small objects which he covered with pure copper deposited byelectroplating, a technique already used by the famous goldsmith Christofle since the 1830s. Oudry was commissioned by the city of Paris to use his galvanic plating process to mold objects andmonuments for the capital.Oudry, for example, was asked tocopper the monumental fountains of the Place de la Concordein the center of Paris, designed by Jacques Ignace Hittorff in 1840 and which had to be repainted every year. On the strength of this new success, Oudry must open larger premises and will open its doors at10, route de Versailles where it employs 150 workers.
