Pour la premi\u00e8re fois depuis la r\u00e9volution, les antiques les plus prestigieux reviennent au ch\u00e2teau dans une sc\u00e9nographie th\u00e9\u00e2trale et spectaculaire.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #ff0000\">V<\/span>ersailles fut une nouvelle rome \u00e0 plusieurs titres : par sa d\u00e9mesure, par son ambition de traverser les si\u00e8cles, par les multiples r\u00e9f\u00e9rences aux grands mod\u00e8les de l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9. Tous les puissants du XVIIe si\u00e8cle les convoitent. Plus que tous les autres souverains europ\u00e9ens, Louis XIV a cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 acqu\u00e9rir les pi\u00e8ces antiques les plus prestigieuses ou \u00e0 les faire copier. Versailles en a \u00e9t\u00e9 le sanctuaire : statues et bustes des grands appartements et des jardins, cam\u00e9es et m\u00e9dailles et petits bronzes du cabinet du roi\u2026 La collection rassembl\u00e9e \u00e0 Versailles offre la vision d\u2019une Antiquit\u00e9 recompos\u00e9e pour la gloire du roi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #ff0000\">E<\/span>n dehors de sa pr\u00e9sence \u00e0 Versailles, l\u2019Antique a \u00e9t\u00e9 un principe f\u00e9condant et stimulant pour tous les cr\u00e9ateurs qui se sont succ\u00e9d\u00e9s \u00e0 Versailles. Les mod\u00e8les antiques universellement connus, notamment par la gravure, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 assimil\u00e9s et r\u00e9interpr\u00e9t\u00e9s. Les artistes se les sont r\u00e9appropri\u00e9s au point que leurs oeuvres pouvaient pr\u00e9tendre surpasser les originaux. L\u2019influence de l\u2019Antique a touch\u00e9 tous les champs artistiques. Les palais et leurs jardins constituent un univers domin\u00e9 par la figure d\u2019Apollon, qui r\u00e8gle les heures du jour, les saisons de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, les temp\u00e9raments des humains. Mais bien d\u2019autres divinit\u00e9s et h\u00e9ros de l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9 incarnent la vision politique de Louis XIV et de ses successeurs.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #ff0000\">P<\/span>ier Luigi Pizzi, metteur en sc\u00e8ne italien de th\u00e9\u00e2tre et d\u2019op\u00e9ra, a con\u00e7u la sc\u00e9nographie de l\u2019exposition tel un d\u00e9cor qui \u00e9voque des atmosph\u00e8res. C\u2019est pourquoi on rencontre dans les d\u00e9cors du Ch\u00e2teau les figures d\u2019Alexandre le Grand bien entendu, mais \u00e9galement de Trajan, d\u2019Auguste, d\u2019Alexandre S\u00e9v\u00e8re, de Scipion ou de Cyrus, le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre souverain de Perse.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;font-size: 12pt\">L<\/span>es femmes c\u00e9l\u00e8bres de l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9 n\u2019ont pas \u00e9t\u00e9 oubli\u00e9es \u00e0 Versailles. De nombreuses h\u00e9ro\u00efnes sont ainsi repr\u00e9sent\u00e9es dans les voussures du Grand Appartement de la reine. Versailles \u00e9tant un abr\u00e9g\u00e9 du monde antique, les principales cit\u00e9s y \u00e9taient repr\u00e9sent\u00e9es par les oeuvres et les d\u00e9cors : Rome, mais aussi Babylone et Rhodes, : marbre, bronze, alb\u00e2tre, porphyre, faisant de Versailles une nouvelle Rome.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #ff0000\">L<\/span>es jardins accueillirent aussi des marbres de couleur, comme l\u2019illustre le bosquet de la Colonnade, repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 \u00e0 la gouache par Cotelle, mais aussi de nombreuses sculptures en bronze, comme les deux copies d\u2019apr\u00e8s particuli\u00e8rement \u00e0 l\u2019honneur \u00e0 Versailles, mais aussi dans les d\u00e9cors du Grand Trianon et du ch\u00e2teau de Meudon, r\u00e9sidence du Grand Dauphin, fils de Louis XIV. Dans ce domaine, les divinit\u00e9s principales sont V\u00e9nus et l\u2019Amour.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;color: #ff0000\">C<\/span>\u00e9dant \u00e0 une nouvelle mode, les principaux personnages de la cour au XVIII\u00e8me se font peindre sous un travestissement mythologique : Nattier a repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 Madame de Pompadour, la favorite de Louis XV, en Diane chasseresse, tenant l\u2019arc \u00e0 la main, mais aussi les filles du souverain, sous les traits de Diane ou de Flore.
