Tel un laboratoire optique, chaque pi\u00e8ce est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e en tant qu&rsquo;\u0153uvre d&rsquo;art et non comme une composante d&rsquo;un d\u00e9cor homog\u00e8ne ; elle est expliqu\u00e9e gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 diff\u00e9rents outils visuels, allant de la loupe \u00e0 l&rsquo;imagerie num\u00e9rique, qui permet de mettre en \u00e9vidence son architect ure, son dessin, son \u00e9piderme, ou son estampille.<\/p>\n<p>Des interventions de l&rsquo;\u00c9cole Boulle permettent au public et notamment aux plus jeunes de comprendre le processus de naissance et de d\u00e9veloppement d&rsquo;un meuble d&rsquo;\u00e9b\u00e9nisterie (une table \u00e0 \u00e9crire) et de menuiserie (un si\u00e8ge). Pour la premi\u00e8re fois, le mobilier est pens\u00e9, les meubles sont cr\u00e9\u00e9s avec une intention particuli\u00e8re, la forme est adapt\u00e9e \u00e0 la fonctionnalit\u00e9 et au confort. L&rsquo;\u00e9laboration du meuble au XVIIIe si\u00e8cle s&rsquo;inscrit bien aux sources du design, autant dans sa conception d&rsquo;un projet global que dans sa recherche d&rsquo;harmonie entre forme et fonction.<\/p>\n<p>La transformation du mobilier accompagne l&rsquo;\u00e9volution de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 du XVIIIe, o\u00f9 les commanditaires des grandes pi\u00e8ces de mobilier sont davantage d\u00e9sireux de confort et de luxe. Des tr\u00e9sors d&rsquo;inventivit\u00e9 se d\u00e9ploient et de nouvelles formes apparaissent : consoles, commodes, secr\u00e9taires en pente et en armoire. Le mobilier aux formes jusque l\u00e0 rigides prend des formes courbes, devient galb\u00e9, droit \u00e0 pieds galb\u00e9s, reposant sur quatre, six, huit pieds.
