Son style naturaliste, nourri de r\u00e9miniscences de la Renaissance bellifontaine et\u00a0d\u2019une fascination pour le XVIIIe\u00a0si\u00e8cle, s\u2019adaptait \u00e0 tous les types de sculpture et aux arts\u00a0d\u00e9coratifs auxquels il ne cessa de fournir des mod\u00e8les.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Outre ses pr\u00e9sentations aux Salons,\u00a0il produisit des \u00e9ditions de sujets tir\u00e9s de la mythologie, de l\u2019histoire ou de pure fantaisie, en\u00a0terre cuite, bronze ou marbre, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une utilisation novatrice de la technologie du temps. Le jeune\u00a0Auguste Rodin y travailla \u00e0 ses d\u00e9buts et trouva chez son ma\u00eetre une veine d\u00e9corative\u00a0perceptible par la suite dans son \u0153uvre; il y apprit en outre \u00e0 ma\u00eetriser les moyens de sa\u00a0diffusion.\u00a0Plus tard, il reconnut qu\u2019il devait \u00e0 son ma\u00eetre le pouvoir de faire ce qu\u2019il voulait de ses mains.<\/p>\n<h3>Portraitiste d\u2019une \u00e9poque<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Carrier-Belleuse a ex\u00e9cut\u00e9 plus de deux cents bustes qui refl\u00e8tent l&rsquo;\u00e9tendue de son r\u00e9seau relationnel au\u00a0sein des milieux influents de son temps. Il resta n\u00e9anmoins \u00e9tranger \u00e0 la Cour qu\u2019il portraitura rarement en\u00a0dehors de l\u2019Empereur. De toutes les actrices\u00a0repr\u00e9sent\u00e9es par Carrier, ce fut Marguerite Bellanger qui frappa le plus profond\u00e9ment sa sensibilit\u00e9\u00a0esth\u00e9tique. Elle devint pour lui une sorte de muse.<\/p>\n<h3>Carrier-Belleuse et Rodin<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Carrier-Belleuse \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 c\u00e9l\u00e8bre lorsque Rodin entra dans son atelier, en 1863. Il s\u2019y trouva dans la\u00a0position modeste d\u2019apprenti chez un patron autant que d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve chez un ma\u00eetre. Il eut \u00e0 accomplir tout ce que\u00a0faisaient les collaborateurs dans un atelier. Ce fut toutefois l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 d\u2019observer le style et les m\u00e9thodes\u00a0de Carrier qui eurent une profonde influence sur ses pratiques futures, notamment le modelage et sa\u00a0mani\u00e8re de travailler.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">En 1871, Rodin d\u00e9mobilis\u00e9 alla retrouver Carrier \u00e0 Bruxelles pour travailler avec lui aux\u00a0reliefs de la Bourse.
