Le bijou \u00e0 la Renaissance, en partenariat avec le mus\u00e9e national de la Renaissance \u2013 Ch\u00e2teau d\u2019\u00c9couen<\/strong>. Cette exposition sera la premi\u00e8re consacr\u00e9e aux bijoux de la Renaissance, quarante ans apr\u00e8s celle que lui avait d\u00e9di\u00e9e le Victoria and Albert Museum de Londres en 1980 sous le titre de Princely Magnificence : Court Jewels of the Renaissance, 1500- 1630. Apr\u00e8s une introduction sur les mat\u00e9riaux et les techniques, permettant d\u2019explorer l\u2019atelier de l\u2019orf\u00e8vre, l\u2019exposition traite la question du bijou de cour, de ses sources d\u2019inspiration et de son \u00e9volution formelle au cours du XVIe si\u00e8cle. Une troisi\u00e8me section aborde l\u2019usage politique du bijou dans les cours europ\u00e9ennes, comme moyen de paiement et d\u2019\u00e9change, ou encore en tant qu\u2019instrument d\u2019ostentation officielle et de fid\u00e9lisation de la noblesse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> La quatri\u00e8me section s\u2019attarde sur la valeur sociale du bijou, particuli\u00e8rement signifiante dans les ordres de chevalerie tandis que la cinqui\u00e8me section pr\u00e9sente les diff\u00e9rents usages du bijou allant de la volont\u00e9 de manifester sa prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9 financi\u00e8re ou sa d\u00e9votion, jusqu\u2019aux sentiments amoureux en passant par les soins du corps. C\u2019est la figure de l\u2019orf\u00e8vre qui domine cette production. Il appartient \u00e0 une corporation puissante et prosp\u00e8re en raison du haut degr\u00e9 de sp\u00e9cialisation des artisans et de la pr\u00e9ciosit\u00e9 des mati\u00e8res qu\u2019ils travaillent : or et pierres pr\u00e9cieuses, souvent import\u00e9s de loin mais \u00e9galement r\u00e9utilis\u00e9s \u00e0 partir de bijoux plus anciens. Le travail commence par l\u2019\u00e9laboration du mod\u00e8le. On s\u2019inspire d\u2019un vaste r\u00e9pertoire d\u00e9coratif commun \u00e0 la sculpture, \u00e0 l\u2019architecture et \u00e0 la peinture. Puis c\u2019est la technique m\u00eame qui suscite l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat des artisans avec le renouveau de l\u2019art glyptique (pierres grav\u00e9es) conduisant \u00e0 la production de cam\u00e9es et intailles. Tout au long du XVIe si\u00e8cle, les parures se font l\u2019\u00e9cho, en miniature, des grandes questions qui animent les artistes de la Renaissance sur la fa\u00e7on de repr\u00e9senter les corps et l\u2019espace.
