Il consacre sa carri\u00e8re \u00e0 cette technique, dont il exploite les caract\u00e9ristiques pour rendre les portraits les plus vivants de cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9. Surnomm\u00e9 le \u00ab Prince des pastellistes \u00bb, il repr\u00e9sente les personnages les plus importants de la cour, dont il aime \u00e0 capter la psychologie. \u00ab Je descends au fond de mes personnages \u00e0 leur insu et je les rapporte tout entiers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jean-Baptiste Perronneau (1715-1783) a pass\u00e9 sa carri\u00e8re \u00e0 voyager, en France autant qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger, s\u2019appuyant sur le r\u00e9seau des acad\u00e9mies et \u00e9coles de dessin d\u2019une v\u00e9ritable \u00ab R\u00e9publique des arts \u00bb sans fronti\u00e8re.
