Cette passion pour \u00abla chine\u00bb ou le \u00ablachinage\u00bb se manifeste notamment par l&rsquo;importation par la Compagnie fran\u00e7aise des Indes orientales de nombreuses oeuvres d&rsquo;art chinoises et japonaises (souvent confondues par les Europ\u00e9ens). Elles sont commercialis\u00e9es \u00e0 Paris par les marchands-merciers.
