Elles sont parmi les premi\u00e8res \u00e0 \u00eatre accessibles au grand public, qui les consid\u00e8rent comme source de savoir et d\u2019\u00e9ducation sur le monde. Cela s\u2019explique par le fait qu\u2019elles n\u2019ont \u00e9t\u00e9 ni pill\u00e9es ni d\u00e9truites pendant la guerre de Trente Ans, contrairement \u00e0 d\u2019autres collections allemandes importantes comme celles de Berlin, Munich ou Stuttgart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au cours de la Deuxi\u00e8me Guerre mondiale, Dresde est tr\u00e8s largement an\u00e9antie par les bombardements.&nbsp;D\u00e8s la p\u00e9riode communiste, la ville se reconstruit et plusieurs b\u00e2timents d\u2019importance sont refaits \u00e0 l\u2019identique. Ces objets techniquement tr\u00e8s \u00e9labor\u00e9s et d\u2019une grande qualit\u00e9 esth\u00e9tique nous r\u00e9v\u00e8lent la fa\u00e7on dont les hommes des temps modernes appr\u00e9hendaient leur environnement spatio-temporel. Dans les collections du Cabinet d\u2019art de Dresde, les instruments de navigation voisinent avec des cartes et globes terrestres ou c\u00e9lestes. Auguste 1er (1526-1586) en particulier s\u2019est attach\u00e9 \u00e0 acqu\u00e9rir ces objets d\u2019une qualit\u00e9 exceptionnelle. Tir\u00e9 de d\u00e9fenses d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9phant ou bien de dents d\u2019autres animaux, l\u2019ivoire peut \u00eatre sculpt\u00e9 l\u00e0 o\u00f9 il est extrait avant d\u2019\u00eatre commercialis\u00e9. Une partie de la production r\u00e9alis\u00e9e par des artisans africains ou indiens s\u2019adresse directement au march\u00e9 occidental, pour lequel elle d\u00e9veloppe des motifs sp\u00e9cifiques. Auguste le Fort, qui a r\u00e9uni une importante collection de porcelaines asiatiques, a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 cr\u00e9er la premi\u00e8re manufacture europ\u00e9enne d\u2019Europe \u00e0 Meissen, \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 de Dresde, en 1710. Les porcelaines r\u00e9alis\u00e9es \u00e0 Meissen utilisent un kaolin provenant de mines tout proches. Cependant, ce sont d\u2019abord des formes et des d\u00e9cors orientaux qui ont servi de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence aux artisans europ\u00e9ens qui les ont abondamment copi\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De l\u2019or \u00e0 l\u2019or blanc Johann Friedrich B\u00f6ttger, apothicaire \u00e0 Berlin, s\u2019\u00e9tait vant\u00e9 d\u2019avoir trouv\u00e9 le secret des alchimistes pour fabriquer de l\u2019or. Emprisonn\u00e9 en Saxe, il attira l\u2019attention d\u2019Auguste le Fort qui lui proposa de percer un autre secret, celui de la fabrication de la porcelaine dure.
