Croisant les apports de l\u2019histoire de l\u2019art, de l\u2019arch\u00e9ologie et des analyses scientifiques, l\u2019exposition t\u00e2chera ainsi d\u2019\u00e9claircir les attributions (Venise&nbsp;? Le verre, les mat\u00e9riaux qui le composent et sa mise en \u0153uvre \u00e9tant au c\u0153ur de la probl\u00e9matique, l\u2019exposition s\u2019ouvre sur une pr\u00e9sentation des<br>techniques de fabrication des verres \u00e9maill\u00e9s et dor\u00e9s de la Renaissance. Cette recette, ainsi que celle d\u2019un verre plus courant (vitrum blanchum), favorisent la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019objets de prestige<br>en lien avec l\u2019art de la table et la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie du banquet. En parall\u00e8le, la d\u00e9coration dor\u00e9e et \u00e9maill\u00e9e, d\u00e9j\u00e0 en usage \u00e0 Venise aux XIIIe et XIVe<br>si\u00e8cles, conna\u00eet un renouveau, donnant naissance \u00e0 une production orn\u00e9e de motifs g\u00e9om\u00e9triques, religieux, h\u00e9raldiques, ou encore \u00e0 l\u2019antique. Les archives t\u00e9moignent de la diaspora pr\u00e9coce des verriers italiens contribuant \u00e0 diffuser les recettes et les pratiques v\u00e9nitiennes. On sait par ailleurs qu\u2019en Italie, les<br>verreries sont nombreuses aux XVe et XVIe si\u00e8cles, en Toscane ou en Ligurie (Altare) et que certaines r\u00e9gions europ\u00e9ennes ont une riche tradition verri\u00e8re, comme la Catalogne et les r\u00e9gions germaniques, comme le Tyrol o\u00f9 l\u2019\u00e9maillage des verres est attest\u00e9 \u00e0 partir des ann\u00e9es 1530. Or, pr\u00e8s de la moiti\u00e9 des objets analys\u00e9s se r\u00e9v\u00e8lent de tradition \u00ab m\u00e9diterran\u00e9enne \u00bb, de type sodocalcique, mais incompatibles avec les recettes v\u00e9nitiennes de la Renaissance. Si c\u2019est le cas, la datation ne peut cependant pas encore \u00eatre \u00e9tablie. S\u2019agirait-il de copies post\u00e9rieures ex\u00e9cut\u00e9es par des faussaires parall\u00e8lement \u00e0 l\u2019essor du go\u00fbt pour ces t\u00e9moins du pass\u00e9 ? Si le corpus est relativement resserr\u00e9, les t\u00e9moignages d\u2019archives sont beaucoup plus nombreux, bien que lacunaires. Ils attestent la fabrication de ce type d\u2019objets dans la plupart des<br>r\u00e9gions fran\u00e7aises, parfois dans des verreries prestigieuses. Les collectionneurs comme Pierre R\u00e9voil et Charles Alexandre Sauvageot constituent alors leurs collections en rassemblant ces t\u00e9moignages d\u2019un pass\u00e9 prestigieux et id\u00e9alis\u00e9.<br>Parmi ces objets, les verres v\u00e9nitiens de la Renaissance sont tr\u00e8s recherch\u00e9s, en particulier ceux \u00e0 d\u00e9cor \u00e9maill\u00e9 et dor\u00e9. Pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 cette demande croissante, se d\u00e9veloppe alors une production de pi\u00e8ces historicistes ou de copies mais aussi des restaurations ou encore des faux.
