La dynastie Francken c\u2019est donc l\u2019histoire de plusieurs g\u00e9n\u00e9rations d\u2019artistes unis par les liens du sang et par un savoir commun. Apr\u00e8s son apprentissage chez Frans Floris, il voyage \u00e0 Tournai et \u00e0 Paris avant de s\u2019\u00e9tablir \u00e0 Anvers en 1577En 1581\/1582, il occupe le poste de co-doyen puis de doyen de la guilde de Saint-Luc d\u2019Anvers (guilde des peintres). Il se consacre aux all\u00e9gories et aux mythes, ainsi qu\u2019aux petites toiles \u00e9voquant Marie. Il s\u2019est \u00e9galement sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans les peintures de sorci\u00e8res, comportant des r\u00e9f\u00e9rences, cach\u00e9es ou non, \u00e0 l\u2019occultisme, au n\u00e9oplatonisme et \u00e0 la d\u00e9monologie. Il a \u00e9galement d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 un nouveau genre: les cabinets d\u2019art et de curiosit\u00e9s et les murs aux tr\u00e9sors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sa production et sa renomm\u00e9e occultent les autres<br>membres de la famille.
