L&#8217;embellissement voulu par le sultan, d\u00e9cid\u00e9 \u00e0 en faire la capitale de son empire, g\u00e9n\u00e8re une demande accrue de pi\u00e8ces de d\u00e9cor et d&rsquo;objets d&rsquo;art. La derni\u00e8re grande commande imp\u00e9riale se fera pour la\u00a0Mosqu\u00e9e Bleue\u00a0(1609-1617). Plus de 2000 carreaux de rev\u00eatement. En 1648, il ne reste plus que 9 ateliers alors qu&rsquo;on en d\u00e9nombrait 300 au d\u00e9but du si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 partir du d\u00e9but du XVII\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, la c\u00e9ramique d&rsquo;Iznik va conna\u00eetre un lent d\u00e9clin de son inventivit\u00e9 et de sa qualit\u00e9 de fabrication. En 1719, les derniers fours d&rsquo;Iznik seront d\u00e9finitivement abandonn\u00e9s. Boch Freres Keramis.<br \/>(c) MDM Antiquit\u00e9s, Proantic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Avec la guerre d&rsquo;ind\u00e9pendance et les pogroms nationalistes du XX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, la grande majorit\u00e9 des maitres potiers restants, qui \u00e9taient soient arm\u00e9niens soient grecs, fuient la r\u00e9gion et une grande partie du savoir-faire disparait. Dans les ann\u00e9es 1950 on trouve aussi de la c\u00e9ramique d&rsquo;Iznik rouge de tr\u00e8s faible qualit\u00e9. Cette production est plus proche de la poterie mais reprend les motifs sur des \u00e9maux cr\u00e8me et ocre.<\/p>\n<p>Depuis les ann\u00e9es 1980 et avec le retour de la notori\u00e9t\u00e9 d&rsquo;Iznik en Turquie, beaucoup de fa\u00efences originaires de K\u00fctaya sont seulement peintes et sign\u00e9es \u00e0 Iznik. N\u00e9anmoins certains c\u00e9ramistes turcs ont travaill\u00e9 afin de retrouver ce savoir-faire. Les couleurs utilis\u00e9es sont tout d&rsquo;abord le bleu de cobalt, qui domine entre 1480 et 1520, plus ou moins d\u00e9lay\u00e9. Il permet d\u2019obtenir de nombreuses nuances de bleu jouant avec le fond blanc. Il s&rsquo;enrichit \u00e0 partir de 1520 d&rsquo;un bleu turquoise \u00e0 base d&rsquo;oxyde de cuivre.<\/p>\n<p>Les gammes des verts, du sauge \u00e0 l&rsquo;olive, apparaissent dans les ann\u00e9es 1530 avec le rose, le gris, le noir. Le pourpre et le brun compl\u00e8tent la gamme mais c&rsquo;est le rouge tomate, r\u00e9alis\u00e9 avec de l&rsquo;oxyde de fer, qui va faire la r\u00e9putation des c\u00e9ramiques d&rsquo;\u0130znik. L\u2019introduction du rouge est visible pour la premi\u00e8re fois dans le d\u00e9cor de c\u00e9ramique de la Suleymaniye (achev\u00e9e en 1559) et donne un rep\u00e8re pour dater les vaisselles qui portent cette couleur.
