Pourquoi les enfants \u00e9taient-ils emmaillot\u00e9s ?<br \/>\nL\u2019exposition \u00ab Enfants de la Renaissance \u00bb pr\u00e9sente dans sa premi\u00e8re partie les \u00e9preuves dangereuses de la grossesse et de l\u2019accouchement, les naissances des princes ou encore le personnage, essentiel, de la nourrice<\/p>\n<p>A la Renaissance, chaque \u00e9tape de la maternit\u00e9 est indissolublement li\u00e9e \u00e0 la mort, soumise \u00e0 des enjeux dynastiques et lignagers. Les craintes majeures sont de ne pas avoir d&rsquo;enfants et ne pas pouvoir les amener \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e2ge adulte. Au XVIe si\u00e8cle, les statistiques sont sans appel avec 200 \u00e0 400 d\u00e9c\u00e8s pour 1 000 naissances, contre 3,9\/1 000 aujourd\u2019hui.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10934\" et objets prophylactiques illustrent bien les probl\u00e8mes de mortalit\u00e9 infantile et maternelle mais aussi les nombreux rituels parfois magiques, astrologiques ou religieux pour pr\u00e9venir les maladies ou \u00e9chapper \u00e0 la mort<\/p>\n<p>Ainsi, parmi les objets rarissimes pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s, le \u00ab\u00a0sachet d&rsquo;accouch\u00e9e\u00a0\u00bb, souvent d\u00e9truit une fois Sont \u00e9galement abord\u00e9s la c\u00e9sarienne et les instruments utilis\u00e9s, comme les tenailles et les crochets !<br \/>\nMais la plupart des enluminures pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es \u00e9voquent surtout l&rsquo;\u00e9merveillement du cercle de famille et la luxueuse vaisselle d\u2019accouch\u00e9e offerte \u00e0 la jeune m\u00e8re.
