Durant cette p\u00e9riode, elle a fortement influenc\u00e9 l\u2019am\u00e9nagement du ch\u00e2teau de Versailles par la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019appartements priv\u00e9s, ainsi que la vie artistique de son \u00e9poque par ses nombreuses commandes aux artistes et aux Manufactures<\/strong>. \u00c0 la cinquantaine d\u2019\u0153uvres, peintures et objets d\u2019art, r\u00e9unie aujourd\u2019hui, provenant essentiellement des collections du ch\u00e2teau de Versailles, s\u2019ajoutent plusieurs acquisitions r\u00e9centes et de premi\u00e8re importance pour Versailles.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019appartement de la Dauphine, qui r\u00e9ouvre \u00e0 l\u2019occasion de cette exposition, n\u2019est toutefois pas pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 dans son \u00e9tat d\u2019am\u00e9nagement historique. Fille de Stanislas Leszczy\u0144ski, roi d\u00e9chu de Pologne contraint de c\u00e9der son tr\u00f4ne \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9lecteur de Saxe Auguste II, elle s\u2019est \u00e9tablie avec sa famille \u00e0 Wissembourg (Alsace) en 1719. Sa gloire pass\u00e9e autorise son p\u00e8re \u00e0 envisager pour elle une union avec un grand personnage. Mais apr\u00e8s plusieurs d\u00e9convenues, l&rsquo;histoire prend un autre tour. Or, \u00e0 ce moment-l\u00e0 Louis XV, jeune roi de treize ans, est fianc\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019infante d\u2019Espagne, seulement \u00e2g\u00e9e de sept ans. L\u2019alliance est rompue au risque d\u2019un incident diplomatique.<\/p>\n<p>Le duc de Bourbon, Premier Ministre du souverain, se met alors en qu\u00eate d\u2019une princesse catholique, de sang royal et capable de mettre rapidement au monde un dauphin. C\u2019est ainsi que Marie Leszczy\u0144ska, fille d\u2019un roi d\u00e9tr\u00f4n\u00e9, s\u2019unit \u00e0 Louis XV le 5 septembre 1725, dans la chapelle de la Trinit\u00e9 du ch\u00e2teau de Fontainebleau. Dans son cadre priv\u00e9, elle m\u00e8ne une existence simple avec sa famille et un cercle d\u2019amis intimes qui partagent ses go\u00fbts. Elle se retire plusieurs heures par jour dans son appartement int\u00e9rieur pour m\u00e9diter, prier, effectuer des travaux d\u2019aiguille sur un m\u00e9tier, ou peindre. Quant aux virtuoses Verbeckt, Dugoulon et Le Goupil, ils sculptent le d\u00e9cor entre les fen\u00eatres.<\/p>\n<p>Les dessus-de-porte, toujours en place aujourd\u2019hui, sont command\u00e9s pour la Reine en 1734 : par Jean-Fran\u00e7ois de Troy, La Gloire des princes s\u2019empare des Enfants de France, figurant le Dauphin et ses deux s\u0153urs a\u00een\u00e9es, et par Charles-Joseph Natoire, La Jeunesse et la Vertu pr\u00e9sentent les deux princesses de la France. Chaque apr\u00e8s-midi, elle se retire en son appartement priv\u00e9 pour lire, m\u00e9diter, y recevoir son cercle le plus intime. Aussi la souveraine joue-t-elle un r\u00f4le essentiel dans la distribution des espaces situ\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re de son Grand Appartement. Mme Victoire, Mme Sophie, Mme F\u00e9licit\u00e9 et Mme Louise, respectivement cinq, quatre, deux ans et quelques mois, sont ainsi envoy\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019abbaye de Fontevrault. Mme F\u00e9licit\u00e9 y meurt en 1744 sans avoir revu ses parents.<\/p>\n<p>En 1747, sur ordre de Louis XV, Lenormant de Tournehem, directeur des B\u00e2timents du Roi, envoie Jean-Marc Nattier \u00e0 Fontevrault. L\u2019artiste livre les portraits des princesses en mars 1748. Ces pr\u00e9sents du Roi font la joie de la souveraine, qui n\u2019a pas revu ses filles depuis leur d\u00e9part. Elle vit \u00e0 Fontevrault depuis dix ans lorsqu\u2019elle pose pour Nattier. La chevelure orn\u00e9e de pierreries, Mme Victoire, le torse barr\u00e9 d\u2019une \u00e9charpe de soie jaune, porte une robe brod\u00e9e d\u2019argent. Consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme la plus jolie des filles de Louis XV, elle ne se marie pas et vit \u00e0 la Cour ainsi qu\u2019en son ch\u00e2teau de Bellevue jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la R\u00e9volution puis \u00e9migre. Elle meurt \u00e0 Trieste en 1799.<\/p>\n<p>Mme Sophie porte une robe blanche brod\u00e9e d\u2019or et soul\u00e8ve gracieusement un voile l\u00e9ger piqu\u00e9 dans sa chevelure. Elle a le buste ceint d\u2019une guirlande de fleurs. Elle passe douze ans \u00e0 Fontevrault.<\/p>\n<p>Mme Louise a dix ans lorsque Jean-Marc Nattier fixe ses traits. Comme ses deux s\u0153urs, elle est ici associ\u00e9e \u00e0 un th\u00e8me floral. La princesse tient une corbeille de fleurs dans une main et dans l\u2019autre un \u0153illet. Son portrait ne manque pas d\u2019\u00e9mouvoir la Reine. Plus confortables que l\u2019appartement d\u2019apparat, ils se composent d\u2019un oratoire, d\u2019une Galerie Verte, d\u2019une Chambre des Bains, d\u2019un Cabinet de Retraite et d\u2019un Cabinet des Po\u00e8tes \u00ab extr\u00eamement petit o\u00f9 la reine rassembla beaucoup de po\u00e9sies [\u2026] \u00bb (Luynes, M\u00e9moires). Autour de la cour de Monseigneur, on am\u00e9nage \u00e9galement des terrasses et des balcons garnis de fleurs, de sculptures en plomb et d\u2019une grotte de rocailles.<\/p>\n<p>Une deuxi\u00e8me campagne d\u2019am\u00e9nagement a lieu en 1747-1748. \u00c0 ce moment-l\u00e0, l\u2019oratoire est transf\u00e9r\u00e9 au revers du cabinet int\u00e9rieur (actuelle chambre des bains) donnant sur la cour de Monsieur, et on cr\u00e9e \u00e0 son emplacement un cabinet \u00e0 pans (futur cabinet de la M\u00e9ridienne), lambriss\u00e9 par Verbeckt. La Galerie Verte devient alors le Laboratoire, ou Cabinet des Chinois, d\u2019abord tendu de panneaux de papier de la Chine, selon la mode du temps, puis, en 1761, orn\u00e9 de peintures. Tous les genres picturaux sont repr\u00e9sent\u00e9s: dans la chambre des Bains, dont la sculpture est confi\u00e9e \u00e0 Rousseau, on place deux \u0153uvres de Natoire : un Concert champ\u00eatre et Une berg\u00e8re et sa compagne. Dans le Grand Cabinet int\u00e9rieur, au-dessus des portes \u00e0 double battant, sont accroch\u00e9s les portraits de Mme Henriette en Flore et de Mme Ad\u00e9la\u00efde en Diane.<\/p>\n<p>De cet appartement, seul le Boudoir \u00e9chappe aux remaniements effectu\u00e9s sous Louis XVI. Les cabinets de Marie Leszczy\u0144ska pr\u00e9parent ainsi ceux de<br \/>\nMarie-Antoinette tels que nous les connaissons aujourd&rsquo;hui.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Le go\u00fbt chinois de la reine<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000\">Salle 4<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Marie Leszczy\u0144ska \u00e9prouve une attirance particuli\u00e8re pour la Chine. En 1747, elle installe un Cabinet chinois dans son Laboratoire, au c\u0153ur de son appartement int\u00e9rieur. Elle d\u00e9cide, d\u00e8s 1761, de le remplacer par un ensemble de toiles dit Cabinet des Chinois. Les tableaux sont ex\u00e9cut\u00e9s par cinq peintres du Cabinet du roi: Coqueret, Fr\u00e9dou, de La Roche, Pr\u00e9vost et Jeaurat, ainsi que par la Reine elle-m\u00eame.<\/p>\n<p>Ces toiles montrent une Chine pittoresque, inspir\u00e9e des recueils de voyageurs au pays de Cathay. On y d\u00e9couvre notamment la pr\u00e9paration du th\u00e9, on y \u00e9voque l\u2019\u00e9vang\u00e9lisation des Chinois par les J\u00e9suites, on y montre une foire \u00e0 Nankin. Ayant \u00e9galement re\u00e7u les meubles qui la garnissent, la dame d\u2019honneur r\u00e9tablit le Cabinet dans son \u00e9tat originel. Pour l\u2019accueillir, on construit un pavillon dans le jardin de l\u2019h\u00f4tel de Noailles-Mouchy, \u00e0 Paris. Au XIXe si\u00e8cle, les toiles passent de la capitale au ch\u00e2teau des Noailles, situ\u00e9 dans l\u2019Oise. Le Cabinet des Chinois demeure chez les descendants de madame de Noailles jusqu\u2019\u00e0 son acquisition par le ch\u00e2teau de Versailles en 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La d\u00e9votion de la reine<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000\">salle 5<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Tr\u00e8s pieuse depuis son enfance, Marie Leszczy\u0144ska ponctue sa vie d\u2019actes de d\u00e9votion. \u00c0 Versailles, elle assiste chaque jour \u00e0 deux messes et se confesse quotidiennement. Elle consacre \u00e9galement un temps \u00e0 la v\u00e9n\u00e9ration de relique, et \u00e0 de pieuses lectures. Le Jeudi Saint, elle prend part \u00e0 la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de la C\u00e8ne. La salle des Gardes de son Grand Appartement est pour l\u2019occasion transform\u00e9e en chapelle ; apr\u00e8s avoir entendu le sermon et re\u00e7u la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction, la souveraine lave les pieds de douze jeunes filles. Chacune re\u00e7oit ensuite une bourse et un repas.<\/p>\n<p>La pratique religieuse de la Reine se traduit aussi par son attachement \u00e0 soulager la mis\u00e8re. Elle prot\u00e8ge les hospices, les dispensaires, les fondations charitables, visite r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement Saint-Cyr, et s\u2019int\u00e9resse particuli\u00e8rement au carmel de Compi\u00e8gne. Elle aide aussi le cur\u00e9 de Saint-Sulpice \u00e0 cr\u00e9er la maison de l\u2019Enfant-J\u00e9sus, o\u00f9 sont \u00e9lev\u00e9es des jeunes filles pauvres et o\u00f9 des femmes trouvent un travail. Elle soutient encore les \u0153uvres des filles de Saint-Vincent-de-Paul et la d\u00e9votion toute nouvelle au Sacr\u00e9-C\u0153ur de J\u00e9sus, par l\u2019\u00e9tablissement d\u2019une de ses confr\u00e9ries \u00e0 la paroisse Notre-Dame \u00e0 Versailles.<\/p>\n<p>Enfin, elle cr\u00e9e non loin du Ch\u00e2teau le couvent de la Reine (actuel lyc\u00e9e Hoche). Une communaut\u00e9 de chanoinesses r\u00e9guli\u00e8res de Saint-Augustin s\u2019y installe en 1773, quatre ans apr\u00e8s la mort de Marie Leszczy\u0144ska.<\/p>\n<p>Son attachement au culte des saintes martyres des premiers temps de la Chr\u00e9tient\u00e9 et \u00e0 Saint Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier, \u00e0 une \u00e9poque o\u00f9 les j\u00e9suites sont expuls\u00e9s de France, est manifeste. Plusieurs commandes de peintures ainsi que les reliques en sa possession en t\u00e9moignent. Ce courant qui constitue la premi\u00e8re phase du mouvement n\u00e9oclassique se fonde sur le rejet des formes de la rocaille jug\u00e9es d\u00e9mod\u00e9es, sur un retour affich\u00e9 \u00e0 la simplicit\u00e9 de l\u2019antique et sur l\u2019usage d\u2019un r\u00e9pertoire d\u00e9coratif et de th\u00e8mes puis\u00e9s dans l\u2019art grec.<\/p>\n<p>La Reine participe \u00e0 sa mani\u00e8re \u00e0 ce mouvement. En 1753, elle commande, par exemple, \u00e0 celui qui doit devenir le chef de file de ce style dans le domaine de la peinture, Joseph Marie Vien (1716-1809), un dessusde-porte pour son cabinet, repr\u00e9sentant Saint Fran\u00e7oisXavier qui d\u00e9barque \u00e0 la Chine.<\/p>\n<p>Plus tard, en 1766, Marie Leszczy\u0144ska fait venir \u00e0 Versailles le lorrain, Richard Mique (1728-1794) qui a occup\u00e9 \u00e0 Nancy les fonctions de Premier architecte pour son p\u00e8re, Stanislas Leszczy\u0144ski (\u2020 en 1766). Elle lui confie la r\u00e9alisation d\u2019un projet qui lui tient particuli\u00e8rement \u00e0 c\u0153ur : la construction \u00e0 Versailles du couvent de chanoinesses de Saint-Augustin, d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9ducation des jeunes filles (actuel lyc\u00e9e Hoche). Le plan choisi pour la chapelle du couvent est celui d\u2019une croix grecque, inscrite dans un carr\u00e9 pr\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 d\u2019un portail d\u2019entr\u00e9e, orn\u00e9 d\u2019un p\u00e9ristyle \u00e0 colonnes ioniques, surmont\u00e9 d\u2019un fronton triangulaire. La chapelle est achev\u00e9e apr\u00e8s la mort de la Reine gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la d\u00e9termination de sa fille, madame Ad\u00e9la\u00efde.<\/p>\n<p>La manufacture royale de porcelaine de S\u00e8vres adopte \u00e9galement d\u00e8s le d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1760, le nouveau style dans le domaine des pi\u00e8ces de service comme dans celui des vases et de la sculpture.
