Ses collections furent fond\u00e9es par le professeur Ivan Tsvetaev d\u00e8s 1912, puis enrichies tout au long du si\u00e8cle. L\u2019<i>\u00c9tude d\u2019une femme tenant un enfant dans les bras<\/i>\u00a0(vers 1650) du Mus\u00e9e Pouchkine est un bel exemple de ces rapides croquis \u00e0 la plume, dans lesquels il pr\u00e9serve la puret\u00e9 d\u2019une impression.<\/p>\n<p>Plusieurs dessins de Rubens ont fait le voyage de Moscou \u00e0 Paris, et plus particuli\u00e8rement le\u00a0<i>Centaure vaincu par l\u2019Amour<\/i>\u00a0(1605-1608). Cette grande feuille est une \u00e9tude faite d\u2019apr\u00e8s un marbre du\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">II<\/span><sup class=\"typo_exposants\">e<\/sup>\u00a0si\u00e8cle avant J.-C., aujourd\u2019hui au Louvre. Le dessin de\u00a0<i>Deux hommes au bord de la mer<\/i>\u00a0appartient aux \u0153uvres tardives de l\u2019artiste. Reproduisant le tableau, dont les couleurs sont d\u00e9crites en marge, le dessin \u00e9tait sans doute joint \u00e0 une lettre adress\u00e9e \u00e0 son ami \u00c9mile Bernard.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matisse, Picasso, Kandinsky, les avant-gardes Europ\u00e9ennes et Russes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La seconde partie de l\u2019exposition est consacr\u00e9e aux mouvements des avant-gardes europ\u00e9ennes et russes qui s\u2019exprim\u00e8rent dans la premi\u00e8re moiti\u00e9 du\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">XX<\/span><sup class=\"typo_exposants\">e<\/sup>\u00a0si\u00e8cle, depuis Matisse et Picasso, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Delaunay, passant par Signac, Juan Gris, Fernand L\u00e9ger (repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par sept dessins), mais aussi Franz Marc, Paul Klee, Giorgio De Chirico ou Modigliani.<\/p>\n<p>Le Mus\u00e9e Pouchkine conserve un fonds important de dessins de Matisse. La plupart de ces \u0153uvres furent donn\u00e9es par Lydia Delectorskaya, secr\u00e9taire, amie et collaboratrice de Matisse. Son\u00a0<i>Portrait<\/i>\u00a0est l\u2019un des chefs-d\u2019\u0153uvre de l\u2019exposition. Effa\u00e7ant et travaillant sans cesse son motif, Matisse s\u2019\u00e9loigne peu \u00e0 peu de l\u2019aspect descriptif initial pour atteindre un dessin aux lignes solides et pures.<\/p>\n<p>Si le dessin de\u00a0<i>La Danse<\/i>\u00a0nous para\u00eet si familier, c\u2019est qu\u2019il est li\u00e9 au c\u00e9l\u00e8bre tableau homonyme de Matisse conserv\u00e9 au MoMA de New York. D\u00e9couvrant cette \u0153uvre en f\u00e9vrier 1909 \u00e0 Paris, le fameux collectionneur russe Sergue\u00ef Chtchoukine souhaita obtenir un panneau similaire pour orner son h\u00f4tel particulier \u00e0 Moscou.<\/p>\n<p>Un cabinet est consacr\u00e9 dans l\u2019exposition aux six feuilles de Picasso provenant de la collection moscovite. Parmi elles, l\u2019\u00e9tude pr\u00e9paratoire pour la\u00a0<i>Composition \u00e0 la t\u00eate de mort<\/i>\u00a0(1908) est caract\u00e9ristique de l\u2019esth\u00e9tique cubiste, dont Picasso fut le grand interpr\u00e8te\u00a0: avec ses couleurs soutenues, le rythme des objets d\u00e9compos\u00e9s et ins\u00e9r\u00e9s dans un espace abstrait.<\/p>\n<p>Comme une exposition dans l\u2019exposition, les dessins russes \u00e9voquent les principales \u00e9volutions de cette \u00e9cole, depuis les membres des groupes artistiques du tournant du si\u00e8cle (<i>Mir Iskousstva<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Golouba\u00efa<\/i>, Union des peintres russes), jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019art sovi\u00e9tique, dont les sujets nouveaux et les formules plastiques originales traduisent une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 profond\u00e9ment modifi\u00e9e. Si certains d\u2019entre eux eurent une grande renomm\u00e9e en Occident d\u00e8s leur vivant \u2013 Chagall, Kandinsky, Tatline ou Malevitch \u2013, d\u2019autres constituent une v\u00e9ritable d\u00e9couverte pour le public, comme De\u00efneka.<\/p>\n<p>La\u00a0<i>Composition E<\/i>\u00a0de Vassily Kandinsky illustre parfaitement les recherches de l\u2019artiste au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1910. Fascin\u00e9 par l\u2019art synth\u00e9tique, il explora l\u2019interaction entre la peinture et la musique, faisant le parall\u00e8le entre la couleur et le son, la ligne et le rythme. Cette aquarelle devient ainsi une v\u00e9ritable symphonie chromatique.<\/p>\n<p>En 1964, l\u2019historien de l\u2019art et collectionneur \u00e0 l\u2019origine de la Fondation Custodia Frits Lugt (1884-1970) voyagea en Russie et visita le Cabinet des Arts graphiques du Mus\u00e9e Pouchkine. Celui-ci \u00e9tait selon lui la derni\u00e8re grande collection de dessins qui lui restait \u00e0 d\u00e9couvrir dans le monde.
