Ramon Pichot, Catalan Interior

Spanish interior in blue. The painting being on a Spanish frame and the subject allows the painting to be dated no later than 1901. It is signed lower right and is framed in a molded wooden frame with a stepped profile. Dimensions without frame 49x38.5 cm Ramon Pichot i Girones was born in Barcelona in 1871. Very quickly, he turned to the Catalan avant-garde movements, evolving from impressionism to a symbolic cloisonisme. He notably binds with Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Isidor Nonell, Santiago Rusinol and Adria Gual. In 1901, he left Barcelona for Paris, where he frequented the bohemian Montmartre, notably taking over the Maison Rose. These works are exhibited at the Museu Nacional d'art de Catalunya, at the Cadaques museum and at the Cau Ferrat museum.
