- Europeans had a real fascination for distant lands from which the few reckless travelers who returned painted pictures of a marvelous world, populated by strange and sometimes disturbing beings: Asia was a myth! From this fascination, porcelain from the Far East takes pride of place, collected in the cabinets of princes; the Chantilly factory were largely inspired by it, hence the privilege of the factory to produce porcelain "à l'imitation du Japon". Until 1751, the sale of the factory, the Kakiemon style is used within the factory. The painters use a lively and reduced number of five colors with decorations inspired by travel books and other collections by ornamentalists, Olfert Dapper and Jean-Antoine Fraisse, among others.
