  • Louis Tocqué (1696-1772). Pupil of Nicolas Bertin and Hyacinthe Rigaud. Full member of the Academy in 1734 with a portrait of the sculptor Jean Louis Lemoine.

  • His fame is great, called to the court of Russia by Empress Elisabeth, he stayed there for two years before passing through the court of Denmark in 1759

    – He will stay in all the courts of northern Europe where a most royal welcome is reserved for him.

From 1737 to 1759, he produced numerous works at the exhibitions of the Academy.

An identifiable leg in the rather recurring purple velvets, a shimmering of colors and even more so the corners of the lips.

He excels in a search for spontaneity such that he refused Empress Elisabeth of Russia to modify her very prominent nose –
  • Presence of these works in many museums around the world.
