Fireback With The Arms Of The Alliance By Jules Hardouin-mansart (94x83 Cm)

Reissue of a 17th century fireback, 94x83 cm (1646-1708), architect, knight of the order of Saint-Michel in 1693, count of Sagonne in 1699, and Anne Bodin (1646-1738 ), daughter of Nicolas Bodin, king's adviser, married on February 3, 1668. The Hardouin family is from Beauvais, Jules Hardouin is the descendant of Scipion I Hardouin who worked on the cathedral of Beauvais in 1552 and 1564. Jules Hardouin wins the esteem of King Louis XIV after drawing the plans for the Château de Clagny, intended for the king's favourite, Madame de Montespan. He became ordinary architect in 1675 and entered the Royal Academy of Architecture, first architect of the king in 1681, appointed general intendant of buildings in 1685, he was superintendent in 1699. That same year, he was able to acquire the county of Sagonne in Bourbonnais (Cher), titled feudal domain, allowing him to assert his ennoblement by the king in 1682. Among his many achievements, we can mention, among others, the Place Vendôme (1677-1699), part of the Hôtel des Invalides (1676-1706), the Château de Marly (1679-1699), and between 1677 and 1698, the Hall of Mirrors, the Petite and Grande Ecurie, the new orangery, the Grand Trianon and many other works at the Palace of Versailles.
