signed lower left figure in the ledger - quasi catalog raisonné of his work Yvonne Cheffer-Delouis born October 12, 1910 in Boulogne-Billancourt and died July 9, 2003 in Limoges, is a French post-impressionist painter. Yvonne Cheffer-Delouis was born in Boulogne-Billancourt on October 12, 1910. Her father Paul Cheffer, an arts and crafts engineer, worked with Louis Renault, the Boulogne-Billancourt car manufacturer. His mother, Clementine Della Tana, came from the Venetian gentry. Yvonne is Auguste Rodin's great-niece: her paternal grandmother's sister is the sculptor's mother. His uncle, Henry Cheffer (1880-1957), Grand Prix de Rome engraver, was a famous book illustrator. He made her enter the Beaux-Arts in Paris, from 1928. The work of Yvonne Cheffer-Delouis evokes intimacy, femininity, grace, silence and modesty1. Through scenes such as reading, embroidery or reverie, she paints the woman in her interior, both literally and figuratively. His painting is colourful, luminous and peaceful. Flowers are the common thread found throughout his particularly delicate and poetic work. In 1931, she obtained the State Professorship in Arts and on the other hand won the silver medal of the inter-school competition. Following this, she taught drawing for 5 years in the schools of Paris. In 1936, she married Pierre Delouis, engineer. Called to run the family business "Maison Delouis" specializing in high-end condiments, the couple moved to Limoges. In order to participate in the financial life of the household, Yvonne worked as a commercial decorator and enjoyed being a window dresser. After 1950, she also ran a free drawing academy for children for 16 years. In addition, for twelve years, she taught drawing to disabled children in a specialized center near Limoges, in Couzeix. The deaths of her parents and her sister, then that of her husband in 1985, affected her deeply. She then took refuge completely in painting, which became a life-saving comfort for her. Yvonne Cheffer-Delouis died on July 9, 2003 in Limoges.
