"Kindjall De Femme Argent Niellé, Caucase 1892 Poinçonné"
This is a beautiful lady's Kindjall, of far above average quality.Perfectly situated in time thanks to its dating, and in space thanks to its characteristic style of the North Caucasus.
BLADE: this is the classic kindjall blade, double-edged, with a deep offset gutter on each side Blade length = 18.3 cm, width 2 cm near the handle HILT : in niello silver, very finely chiseled, including on the 2 side faces. (the photos speak for themselves...)
SCABBARD : In niello silver, with high quality chasing, and complex niello, particularly at the level of the small flowers in the middle of the scabbard. On the rear side we find in niello the date "1310" of Hegire which corresponds to the year 1892.
We find too the Russian punchmark of guarantee at 84 "Zolotnik" (equivalent to 875/1000) and the artist's punchmark: an "A" in an oval, which I have not yet identified.
The presence of a Russian hallmark is quite logical since in 1892, we are under the reign of Alexander III, the Caucasian wars have been over for more than 25 years and the "mountain of languages" has regained calm, in the within the Empire.
The scabbard ends with a small ball, also in niello silver.
In summary it is a quality weapon, which should find a place of choice in a collection on the theme of Imperial Russia, or in a collection of Caucasian weapons.
