JACOB PETIT 1796-1868 After learning drawing as an autodidact, Jacob Petit entered the studio of the painter Antoine Jean-Gros, a disciple of Jacques Louis David. Early attracted to porcelain, he joined the Sèvres factory in 1822. Passionate about decorative arts, he made several trips to France and Europe (Italy, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and England) to deepen his knowledge and perfect his technique.
