"Medallion-sign - Bakery - 1790 - XVIII° - Vanity-memento Mori"
Baker's sign, pewter medallion, dated 1790, Louis XVI period - period: 18th century. Pewter stamped with ornaments bearing name and date (1790) with goldsmith's hallmarks on the back, see photos. EST region of France, ornament or sign of a bakery. Laurel wreath surrounding the edge of the medallion, at the top in a cartridge the inscriptions "17 LEONHART & BETTER & KEBER 90". In the obverse central part and at the top, 1 pretzel, 2 loaves. In the base part: 1 Skull (vanity -memento mori) with 2 shins between crossed with a scythe. On the skull, a winged hourglass (the time that passes) In the reverse part, 2 fixing legs and in the center a goldsmith's punch : An angel with the inscriptions "CCF & ENG BLOC".
