This colorfully impressionist work was executed at the turn of the 20th century by the famous French painter of Swiss origin Lucien Laurent-Gsell (1860 in Paris - 1944).Laurent-Gsell comes from a family of artists. His father was the glass painter Gaspard Gsell, who ran the Laurent & Gsell company in Montmartre, his grandfather was the lithographer Jakob Laurenz Gsell. The glass and church painter Albert Gsell was his brother, and Laurent-Gsell received his early artistic instruction from his father. With her support, he was then accepted at the École des Beaux-Arts and was taught by Alexandre Cabanel and Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, among others. At the age of 84, Lucien Laurent-Gsell dies in Paris, where he also found his last resting place.
