Oil on panel, signature incised lower right and countersigned on the back.
Painted in glaze, very little material.

Good condition. ​​66 x 40 cm

Louis Abel-Truchet, born December 29, 1857 in Versailles and died September 9, 1918 in Auxerre, was a French painter and poster artist.
A pupil of Benjamin Constant and Jules Lefebvre at the Académie Julian in Paris, Louis Abel-Truchet produced many paintings of Parisian nightlife at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as landscapes and genre scenes.
From 1891, he exhibited in various salons, notably at the Salon d'Automne, as well as at the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts of which he was a member in 1910, and finally at the Salon of French Artists. During the war, he published caricatures in the press and in particular Le Petit Journal. He died of a war wound shortly before the end of hostilities.
