FIREPLACE CLOCK "VENUS ET AMOUR", late Louis XVI, the plate signed JC CAILY, the model after drawings by F. VION (François Vion, ca. 1764 Paris 1800), Paris ca. 1800. Constructed in Carrara marble and gilt bronze, rising from an elliptical base clad in gilt bronze supported by bronze top feet, the figures of Psyche and Cupid rest on a rococo background with 2 pegeons on the side, sheltering the clock movement at eight days, with an enamel dial signed Furet a Paris, the hours in Arabic numerals. French, circa 1780 White marble and gilt bronze. Enamel dial. Lever escapement movement, 1/2 hour strike on bell.
