Guillotine Secretaire In Blond Walnut, Louis XVI Period - Late 18th Century

Bureau Haut à Guillotine, in solid and veneered Blond Walnut, from the Louis XVI period. Its wooden top sees its edges cut into bevels and mouldings. Its upper part consists, by definition, of two doors, with Mercury Mirrors. They contain a compartment lined with a 33 cm deep shelf. This is placed on racks and partially adjustable in height. Below, a flap materializes the Secretaire space. Its front is made up of a pretty Walnut Veneer panel with a Developed effect. The latter is underlined by strips forming a frame. Once unfolded, this flap becomes a Writing Table covered with Green Leather, with central Vignette and Golden frieze. The theater is relatively uncluttered. It consists of niches, drawers with various capacities and a locker concealed under one of them. In the lower part, this piece of furniture offers two large drawers with an identical depth of 17.5 cm and assembled in Dovetails. Their facades are designed using the same process as that used for the seat. These five main openings lock. They are provided with original brass keyholes, accompanied by their respective keys which are current. The front uprights of this secretary are fluted on one of their faces. The set rests on four feet in sheaths terminated by brass sabots. The sides of this piece of furniture are paneled. The back is fir. We will appreciate the variety of storage offered by this Secretaire, as well as its harmonious designs formed by its Walnut Veneer.
