He attended the drawing school whose director was the painter Jean-Louis Daniel who made it his favorite, so that at 18 he was already exhibiting his paintings at the Société des Beaux Arts. On his return from the war, he resumed his brushes: he liked to find himself in the Périgourdine countryside with Emile Chaumont, Gustave Chérifel, André Saigne to take on the spot and in a daring style in the movement of impressionism, the play of light, the sun, which make the charm of this region: some of his works evoke Van Goth! In 1929, he was received by the French Artists and exhibited there until 1939. A landscape painter, with a prolific work, but also a portraitist and illustrator, André Prugent is considered one of the most talented painters of the School of Perigueux.
