"Fez Half Belt In Silk And Linen Brocatelle - Morocco 19th Century"
19th century Morocco Precious Half Fez Wedding Belt with Arab-Andalusian design which was probably cut in two after a partition. Provenance of a famous French collection which will be transmitted to the buyer and which was published in the 1970s. Woven on a hand loom with Hispano-Moorish decoration, it is about two belts sewn in their middle probably at the era. Upside down, the ikat weave is as interesting as the right side up. Patina of use and some missing fringes, but stable condition. Dimensions: 13 cm wide by 254 cm long. This belt comes from a set of 12 pieces that decorated a castle in the South West of France in the Bordeaux region. Le Collectionneur was published in decoration magazines of the 1970s, associated with French 18th century. He published a major work which is still a reference today and which will be communicated to the buyer. The other belts will be put on sale one by one but it is possible to acquire the entire collection on request.
