Object description :

"Suite Of Six Armchairs Attributed To Pierre Nogaret"
Exceptional set of six fiddle-shaped ''cabriolet'' armchairs, attributed to Pierre Nogaret (1718 – 1771)
The crosspieces of the backrests and the seat as well as the top of the feet have a vigorously carved floral decoration.
The attachment of the armrest console mastered by the use of a ''coup de fouet'', the legs with pronounced curves, the quality of the walnut, the perfect balance, the power of the sculptures, the elegance of the curves and against - curves characterize these seats which are also distinguished by a wide and comfortable seat.
Pierre Nogaret also used the principle of ''agrafes'': significant decoration that can be found on this set, in particular on the crosspieces of the seat belts and on the lower and upper crosspieces of the backrests.
These ''agrafes'' sculpted with small scrolls or acanthus leaves help to reinforce the movement of the counter-curved crosspieces, giving them an alert rhythm like no other.
The present characteristics clearly underline the realization of these six seats by the famous carpenter in seats from Lyon, Pierre Nogaret.
