Particular French bronze "Samson fighting with the lion". (Samson hero of prodigious strength granted directly by God). The muscles of Samson and his efforts to conquer the lion mingle with the musculature of the beast which tries desperately to resist. Beautiful sculptural quality, beautiful 19th century patina. Black marble base.
