"The Prairie And The Stream Bronze Signed Raoul Larche"
the meadow and the brook patinated bronze signed Raoul Larche, founder Siot Decauville. Height 51cm good general condition, placed on a marble base. Raoul Larche (1860-1912) Student of the National School of Decorative Arts, he was admitted to the National School of Fine Arts in Paris where he was a pupil of François Jouffroy, Auguste Dumont, Alexandre Falguière, Jean -Léon Gérôme and Eugène Delaplanche. He made his debut at the Salon des artistes français in 1884 and exhibited very regularly until 1911. In 1886, he won the second Grand Prix de Rome for sculpture. He received a third class medal in 1890, a first class medal in 1893, a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900 and a medal of honor in 1910. The artist, whose many works appear in the public collections ensures, in a way, the transition between academic art and the bolder, more unbridled imagination of Art Nouveau. The terracotta sketch of this model is kept at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris (RF 3680, gift of Mr. Patrice Bellanger). It foreshadowed a marble group exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in 1893 and kept in the Senate in Paris. There is also a plaster cast from 1890 (H 145cm - W 92cm - D 80cm), exhibited in 1891 at the Salon des Artistes Français (No. 2650), kept at the Museum of Fine Arts in Dijon, as well as a bronze edition by Siot-Decauville and also a biscuit edition by the Manufacture de Sèvres.
