"Pair Of Potpourris, Attributed To Jacob Petit."
This rare and beautiful pair of covered potpourris, in polychrome Paris porcelain, is attributed to Jacob Petit. Square in section, they are decorated with plant motifs in white and gold relief, the flat surfaces are decorated with friezes of flowers, vine branches and insects in light relief gilded with fine gold. On each side, they receive a genre scene set in reserve. The animated scenes, entirely painted by hand, are all different, some are affixed to a green background, the others are painted on a white background. In perfect condition, the gilding is in exceptional condition. Work from the Restoration period dating from the mid-19th century attributed to Jacob Petit in Paris. Width 14.6 cm, height 20.5 cm.
