"‘’hustle And Bustle In The Kitchen’’ "
Denis Pierre Bergeret was born at Villeparisis in 1846. He trained under Eugene Isabey, Jules Lefebvre and Leon Bonnat. One of the most popular still life painters of his time he exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1870 to 1908. He was awarded medals for his work in 1873, 1877, 1889 and 1900.

Influenced by the work of the painter Antoine Vollon, he employed a similarly thick impasto with a vigorous brush stroke. During the 1890's Bergeret lived in a small artist's colony in Monmartre, (26 rue Victor Masse) where he stayed until the 1890's.

Bergeret painted still lifes of flowers and fruit and also specialised in still lifes of seafood; oysters, prawns, lobster
In 1900 he was made a Chevalier de la legion d'Honneur.
