"Skeleton Clock In Gilt Bronze Empire Period Early XIXth"
Skeleton clock in gilded bronze Empire period early 19th century. The white enamel dial signed "Bergmiller in Paris" indicates the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals, it is surrounded by a large frieze of openwork foliage and surmounted by an Imperial eagle accompanied by delicately chiseled gilt bronze flowers. The base is formed by two circular bases joined by four baluster-shaped columns in richly chiseled gilt bronze and reveals the original pendulum adorned with an Imperial eagle. It rests on four small ball feet, mercury gilding with original double patina in very good condition, cleaned by our workshop (slight wear). Original wire movement striking the hours and half-hours revised by our watchmaker. Our Clock is engraved on the upper base "M.Dosseur" according to our research it would be a collector of French antiquities of the XIXth century who would have sold certain pieces of his collection to Museums such as the Louvre Museum .
