Object description :

"Mars And Venus, 16th Century Flanders, Entourage Of Marteen De Vos"
Mars and Venus, oil on parquet wooden panel, 16th century period, dimensions: 32 cm x 45 cm, with its old carved wooden frame: 57 cm x 70 cm, entourage of Martin de Vos. In reaction to the classicism of the Renaissance, the sophisticated art of mannerism developed at the beginning of the 16th century. Starting in Italy around 1520, Mannerism spread throughout Northern Europe, even in Flanders, with painters such as Martin de Vos, Cornelis van Harlem, Abraham Bloomaert and Bartholomeus Spranger, among others. It's a nice parenthesis for Dutch painting before it transitions to a style influenced by Caravaggio. Our painting, a beautiful mythological scene, is set in this period.
