This rare pair of magnificent capricci representing coastal views with galleons on the waves, are to be included as unpublished works in the catalog of Orazio Grevembroeck. Son of Giovanni and brother of Alessandro, with them and with the same unmistakable pictorial style, he produced a series of splendid seascapes. The decor always follows the same script with fantastic Mediterranean views representing ports, rocky coasts and the inevitable ships where meticulous images of sailboats and galleons stand out. The splendid Marinas published here break with the usual canons of its production, which sees the luminous bays with the still sea and the boats anchored in the bay. In fact, stormy seas are a very rare scene for Grevembroeck's works. We find the same characteristics in a painting entitled "Storm on the coast" by Orazio Grevembroeck exhibited at the Kunthistorisches Museum in Vienna which measures cm. 20 x 35. (see photo). The waves of the sea seem to be part of the same paintings: www.khm.at/de/object/e97ee2054d/ The two works have never been restored or cleaned and are still on the first canvas on the original stretcher
