Object description :

"Louis Cresson (1706-1761), Louis XV Armchair With The Stamped Queen, 18th Century"
Superb and rare Louis XV period armchair stamped by master cabinetmaker Louis Cresson (1706-1761). It is molded and carved beech. It was completely reupholstered in the old fashioned way a few years ago with a charming floral fabric in mottled sky blue tones. Some re-gluing was probably done at the time of the restoration at the upholsterer. Stamp on the lower rear cross member. Louis XV period, mid 18th century. Delivery in wooden crate on pallet by carrier in the DRC, 150 euros in France, 300 euros in the EU and 1500 euros rest of the world. My prices are very studied and non-negotiable, thank you for your understanding. Louis Cresson was part of a very famous family of cabinetmakers. He moved to rue de Cléry under the sign "À l'Image de Saint Louis". Despite a real talent, his production was not abundant. He made, in the Louis XV style, various caned or fabric-covered seats, remarkable both for their shape and their finesse of execution, all decorated with rich sculptures of flowers, foliage or shells. It was also he who carried out, towards the end of his life, the carpentry of a rolling machine, commissioned for the Duke of Burgundy, grandson of Louis XV.
