Important Console In Carved And Gilded Wood Italy XVIII

Italian console in carved gilded wood from the Louis XV XVIIIth century, richly decorated with finely carved foliage and flowers. Side crosspiece carved with a shell decorated with flowers in the center. It rests on four arched legs with scrolls and staples connected by a spacer surmounted by a large stylized shell. Gilding with gold leaf in very good condition. Original top in pozzolana (volcanic stone) covered with an inlay of Italian marbles, it is surrounded by a molded and grooved border in Portor marble, in the center a medallion in Portor marble surrounded by yellow Siena marble on a marble background veined pink. Beautiful proportions, quality Italian work from the 18th century
