Saber of the Belle-Isle Dragons regiments 1706 Iron frame, cap with short tail, half-basket guard with three flat branches. Wooden rocket covered with leather and iron wire. pallasch-type blade: 78.5 cm remains of scabbard with clevis. The Belle-Isle regiment is the heir of the fimarcon dragoons and the ancestor of the second hunter regiment. In 1706, Belle-Isle-dragons surprised a corps of three regiments of cuirassiers and took more than 300 prisoners, including 27 officers at the Battle of Calcinato. As a reward for this feat, the regiment is authorized to wear the sabers of the cuirassiers it has defeated. Reference: bottet, the French white weapon of war in the 18th century
