Louis Bourgeois enters the School of Fine Arts in Lyon, and follows the courses of Jean-Louis Loubet and Adolphe Castex-Desgrange. He goes to Paris, follows the courses of Léon Gérôme and begins to make a career under the name of "L . Borgex" as a draftsman and "L. Bourgeois-Borgex" as a painter. His first exhibition was at the Salon de Lyon in 1895. He exhibited at the Salon des artistes français from 1898. In the early 1890s, Borgex is close to Aristide Bruant and the artistic community of Montmartre.He also launches into caricature, collaborating with Rabelais or L'Éclair and produces art lithographs for L'estampe moderne ("Les Sardinières").Between 1907 and 1914, Borgex produced many drawings: the "small street trades" for various brands of chocolate (Chocolat Louit, Chocolat du planteur) and some advertisements offered chromos signed by him. He also executed 38 drawings by composers. In 1913, he publishes a biography of the musician Vincent d'I ndy. He also works on the Collection des cent. After the First World War, the painter became rare. He signed a few critical writings and died in 1959.
