Important pair of neo-Byzantine style gilt bronze and onyx cassolettes. The rich decoration is composed of stylized flowers and leaves, scrolls and medallions representing the profiles of young men surrounded, in a medallion, the face of a bearded man with long hair. The spiral grips on an axis present the head of Dionysus, god of the vine. The lids are surmounted by a socket depicting a beautiful man's head with a finely trimmed beard and crowned with a crown. the cassolettes rest on a large and elegant onyx base.
