"Inclusion Of Revival In Resin Signed Arman Dated 66"
ARMAN born Armand Fernandez (1928 Nice + New York 2005) is a Franco-American artist, painter, sculptor and visual artist, renowned for his "accumulations". He was one of the first to use directly, as pictorial material, manufactured objects, which represented for him the multiple and infinite extensions of the human hand which undergo a continuous cycle of production, consumption and destruction. ARMAN first produced several works in which traces of stamps appeared; "stamps" with which he applies the paint to the canvas. He marks here a break with the tool traditionally used in painting, the brush. The object, after having been used by the artist to paint, is gradually integrated into his canvases as matter. The objects, which usually served as models for painting, find themselves directly integrated into his works. This process creates confusion between reality (the object) and its representation (the canvas), since the two are amalgamated.
