JOSEPH NICOLAS JOUY (1809-1880), OIL ON CANVAS: ALGERIAN SECOND EMPIRE FIREMAN. War scene representing a wounded skirmisher rescued by a priest, signed lower right "JN Jouy". Height 55cm, width 45cm. Presented in a period gilded wooden frame, H 77 cm, width 68 cm. France. Late 19th century. Very good state. Joseph Nicolas Jouy belonged to the artistic style of the French School. He was mainly active during the classical period. In the exercise of his art, Joseph Nicolas Jouy mainly exercised the artistic techniques of oils on canvas. He is particularly known for the following works: jean-baptiste Bernadotte, marshal of the empire, king of sweden in 1818 (1764-1844), represented in 1804, the emperor napoleon 1st on the battlefield of Heilsberg, the 11 June 1807, Madame de Nonjon and her two daughters... Which are so many illustrations of her favorite subjects: great battles, history, portraits. Many of his works are in the Palace of Versailles and Trianon.
