"Pair Of Candlesticks With Putti In Gilt And Cloisonné Bronze, Napoleon III Period"
Beautiful pair of Putti candlesticks in gilt bronze and polychrome champlevé enamelling. Parisian work from the Napoleon III period, in the spirit of the GIROUX or BARBEDIENNE house. Enamelling with a plant motif very nicely nuanced by a luminous and harmonious polychromy.Champlevé enamelling: the field defined on a metal plate intended to collect the enamel is hollowed out with a chisel. Engraved, the plate can therefore receive the material in its cells. The enameller puts the plate in the oven for each color deposited. The enamel, once baked, is sanded. Derived from the technique of cloisonné enamel, that of champlevé gives results of highly appreciated finesse.
