The grape symbolizes abundance, the pleasure of the senses, enjoyment and sometimes also lust .
It is always linked to a notion of earthly pleasure, exacerbation of the senses, of the sun, but also to Dionysian pleasure.

The fermentation of the grape gives the wine, intoxicating like desire. But the intoxication of the senses can also lead to spiritual ecstasy. The grape is an ambivalent symbol, creating or revealing the illusion.

Albert Marionnet is a renowned bronzier, engraver and founder, whose company based in Paris supplied all the luxury boutiques of the Second Empire and the Third Republic.

His works are present in the collections of the Musée d'Orsay. Like many of his fellow bronziers of the time, these skills are situated on the edge of Art and the decorative arts.
